PR Account Executive – Cheltenham
Reporting into the Senior Account Executive and/or Account Manager, the Account Executive will provide support across the team on both day-to-day and project activities.
Key duties and responsibilities:
• Working with both traditional and emerging tools (e.g. Databases, social media, online resources) to provide effective support to the team
• Researching and identifying appropriate reporters and news contacts on an ongoing basis
• Developing media and blogger relationships
• Monitoring relevant news sources and alerting the team to breaking news relevant to clients
• Understanding and identifying strong news angles and media opportunities
• Securing ongoing and regular media opportunities such as columns and Q&As
• Creating valuable and insightful briefing sheets to assist clients with their press communications
• Organising media interviews/briefings
• Assisting with the management of press tours, events and review programmes
• Supporting with the pitching of digital materials and content, such as info graphics and video
• Creating press materials and compelling content for both traditional and digital media
• Tracking, measuring and reporting on media relations activities
• Participating in new business pitches by providing research support and coordination
Specific tasks involve:
• liaising on a daily basis with clients and the media, often via telephone and email;
• relationship building and networking with colleagues, clients and the media;
• monitoring the media, including newspapers, magazines, journals, broadcasts, newswires, social media sites and blogs, for opportunities for clients;
• working as part of an account team to develop client proposals and implement the PR activity;
• preparing regular client reports and attending client meetings;
• researching, writing and distributing press releases to targeted media;
• promoting news stories and features to the media, known as ‘selling in’;
• collating, analysing and evaluating media coverage;
• event management, including press conferences and promotional events;
• attending and promoting client events to the media;
• assisting with the production of client publications, such as in-house magazines;
• commissioning market research;
• coordinating studio or location photography;
• undertaking research for new business proposals and presenting to potential new clients;
• Managing the PR aspect of a possible crisis situation.
